Toolkit: Understanding and Addressing Long-Term Effects of COVID-19
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Set of resources developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services provide information on the long-term effects of COVID-19 and how to care for patients with these conditions. The first two resources cover the common symptoms associated with post-COVID conditions (also known as "long COVID"). These resources are available at: Post-COVID Conditions | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Post COVID Conditions (e.g. Long COVID) | Centers for Disease Control and Infectious Diseases Society of America. A third resource gives interim guidance for providers on conducting a patient history and physical exam to evaluate patients with post-COVID conditions. This resource is available at: Evaluating and Caring for Patients with Post-COVID Conditions: Interim Guidance | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Finally, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice has provided guidance on symptoms of "long COVID" that limit one or more major life activities and can qualify as a disability. This guidance is available at: Guidance on “Long COVID” as a Disability Under the ADA | U.S Department of Health and Human Services.
