Overcoming Language Barriers to Vaccination

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui recently held a vaccine clinic for their community, in partnership with Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center. At the event, the organizations offered materials in no fewer than 10 different languages, and also enlisted the help of health workers to act as translators on site. During the event, a Marshallese-speaking family came in for more information about the vaccines. Because they were able to speak in their own language with a translator, the whole family ended up getting vaccinated!
