To fight vaccine hesitancy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Baton Rouge Black Alcoholism Council (BRBAC) built community partnerships with medical professionals, influential messengers, and radio broadcasters. Also known as Metro Health, BRBAC partnered with CareSouth to dispel Covid-19 myths and promote community vaccinations. The partnership began in September 2021 and included a community fitness event, vaccination event, radio shows, and podcasts. Partnership outreach, media strategies, and the hard work of staff and community members helped CareSouth average 523 Covid-19 vaccinations per month by December 2021 – a 389% increase from September.
